BOSSIER CITY – Associate of Applied Science Degree in Network Security Specialist* This degree program is designed to provide a focused set of courses from the Division of Cyber Technology Information. The student will obtain technical skills necessary for jobs as Network Specialists, Analysts, and other computer-related positions. Associate of Applied Science in Telecommunications with a concentration in Media Studies* This degree program is designed to prepare students for careers in audio-video communications technology, telecommunications, or printing technology linked to specific demand occupations in the Arts, A/V Technology, and Communication Occupation Cluster.

NATCHITOCHES – Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies and Concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling The Addiction Studies degree and concentration in Substance Abuse at NSU has acted to increase awareness and recognition of the services provided on a daily basis by those professionals employed in addictions treatment and prevention programs throughout the state of Louisiana and nationally. The addiction field offers an excellent chance to make a significant impact on people's lives to move them from unhealthy to healthy life styles. Northwestern State University offers two pathways in order for someone to be certified and/or licensed in Substance Abuse Counseling. 1. The Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies is a degree for those seeking to enter the addiction treatment profession. This degree is in accordance with the Louisiana Addictive Disorders Regulatory Authority and National Standards Guidelines. Addictions treatment has emerged as a specialty health care discipline; NSU’s fast-track program, offered to both NSU students and the CALL students, is a qualified pathway for that career. 2. The Concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling is a multidisciplinary field that may include direct care counselors, social workers, doctors, psychologists, health educations, criminal justice system, rehabilitation counselors, and nurses. Levels of education, specialized training and life experiences in efforts to effectively reach those affected by substance abuse and addiction. Bachelor of Arts in Journalism* For those students wishing to pursue a career in journalism or other mass communications degrees, NSU offers a fully online Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. The degree features 8-week accelerated courses. Students may also enroll in full semester Internet courses. For students with professional experience in mass communications, credits may be earned through Prior Learning Assessment. Please, contact a CALL adviser at NSU. The online journalism program at NSU is especially well suited for adults who cannot attend an on-campus program and need the flexibility of Internet courses. Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN)* Today’s complex and changing health care environment has created a critical need for nurses educationally prepared beyond the associate degree level. The American Association of College of Nursing (AACN) reported, “Further, new evidence is emerging which underscores the importance of baccalaureate nursing education to safe patient care and quality outcomes.” NSU’s Nursing program is offering an accelerated way to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. EUNICE – Along with their 2-degree in Criminal Justice, Louisiana State University - Eunice will now be offering a 2-year degree in Fire Science. Associate of Applied Science in Fire and Emergency Services* According to the Louisiana Workforce Commission publication, Opportunities in Law, Public Safety & Security, the occupation of Fire Fighter is one of the fastest growing occupations in the Law, Public Safety & Security cluster. The projected total annual demand for Louisiana is 200, according to their long-term projections. The total annual demand is calculated based on the replacement demand for retirements and job turnover combined with new growth in the field. An A.A.S degree in Fire and Emergency Services will allow students to serve as full-time and volunteer firemen with the necessary academic skills to back up on the job training. MONROE – Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene The Bachelor of Science Degree Completion Program online offering is designed for hygienists who have completed an associate degree program and desire to continue their education toward a baccalaureate degree. This program prepares students for advanced levels of employment opportunities in areas such as research and development, dental hygiene education, public health, and the corporate world. The program also prepares students for graduate study and equips graduates with skills appropriate for lifelong learning.
